Portfolio
You are how you’re seen. your identity matters.
Starting my career as a photojournalist at 19 years old, I quickly learned that precision is key—even an innocent caption mistake could become a lawsuit.
Later in my career, I became a legal caseworker in asylum and immigration law, and my writing literally saved lives. The most convincing words at the precise moment of need, supported by meticulous country, legislation, and policy research and arguments.
These persuasive writing skills were incredibly helpful for my marketing work for a London kitchen company, where I fast became the strongest seller to book and convert appointments. It was here that I learned the value of a well-crafted conversion email.
I wrote day in and day out as a high-school English teacher for almost a decade. Teaching isn’t about handing out papers, and it’s not just correcting grammar. Teaching is instructional design, it’s clear technical communication for diverse audiences, it’s about writing to defuse, instruct, explain, reassure, praise, and persuade.
Now, as a content writer, my skills and experience combine to craft impactful messages in your precise brand voice with detail, nuance, care, and respect.
I’ve chosen to create my website as a complementary combination of my work in pedagogy, writing, and advocacy, because my professional identity is a holistic combination of my work and scholarship. Therefore, this is an interwoven portfolio, representing my interest in working at an interdisciplinary level.
On my Technical Writing page, you can find my report on the deadly risks of cycling in Fort Lauderdale, along with infographics created for the International Rescue Committee to support their anti-trafficking work in South Florida. The Conversion Emails page demonstrates my ability in persuasive writing for an addressed, rather than invoked, audience and the resulting success in attracting local K-12 educators to take part in the SoFlo Writing Project, for which I also created a StoryMaps reflection of the second annual summer institute. The themes of pedagogy, writing, and advocacy are intertwined and invoked in my seminar paper, Causes and Effects of Test-Driven Writing in Florida’s Public Schools, which I presented at a humanities conference in April 2025, and which informs and guides my own teaching today, as reflected in my illustrated essay. Additionally, the self-contained Teaching Writing portfolio demonstrates a selection of pedagogical materials, as well as my teaching philosophy, written as a letter to one of my former students who herself became a teacher as a direct result of my encouragement for her writing.
This website also serves as a time capsule of my graduate studies in composition, rhetoric, and digital media at Nova Southeastern University. Please browse at your leisure. I’d love to hear your thoughts.
