Meet the SoFlo team of emails

This selection of emails is curated from the full range leading up to the 2025 SoFlo Writing Project Summer Institute, crafted for varied audiences of school district staff, K-12 school administrators, and teachers. Firstly, the gatekeepers to teacher email lists - curriculum leads, heads of department, and school district staff. SoFlo had received valuable feedback from 2024 Fellows that the Summer Institute was unlike any other professional development they’d attended, and it was important to include this in their messaging for 2025 onwards. However, they also had to avoid alienating helpful district employees if they were to disparage district-mandated professional development. The voice was adjusted accordingly for each audience, more deferential for districts, and more peer-to-peer for educators.

Each email was progressive, layering on additional contact opportunities, like the Meet and Greet event, and tailored to reinforce the essential message of both tangible and intangible benefits to educators in the form of books, lesson plans, and community. The 2025 email strategy and content resulted in more than triple the number of applications from the previous year, with eight educators accepted in the three-week program and seven completing it. From this, more than 1300 students will benefit from a teacher trained in South Florida’s only National Writing Project site.
