About me
A chance poetry lesson in school started me writing in my early teens. However, I dropped out of school at 16 years old and, for many years, writing was just not a priority, although I continued keeping a journal and writing poetry.
In 2006, after working in local newspapers for six years, I decided it was time to go back to education and graduated from a top ten UK university in 2008 with a BA in journalism. In 2016, after moving to the US, I became a high-school English teacher, taking on the role of poetry club coach for the spoken word team, Write the Waves. The team made it to the semi-finals in the Florida state competition Louder Than a Bomb three times under my leadership.
I graduated from Nova Southeastern University in 2025 with an MA in Composition, Rhetoric, and Digital Media. During my time there, I worked as a graduate assistant coordinator helping create and develop the SoFlo Writing Project, a local site from the renowned National Writing Project.
My typical week includes creating and managing social media output, researching and writing grant applications, website editing, and a lot of reading about writing and writing about writing.
I enjoy running, cycling, rock climbing, and telling very bad jokes - an art form in itself.
